"Matadoon"
Rules manual Ver.1.0
Players: 2 - 4 / Play Time: 20 minutes / Age: 10 years of age or older.


>Story:
Hey, can you hear that wild cheers?
Here starts brand new style bullfight that fearless bullfighters play!
You ask what is new? Not the fight "against" bull but "by" bull!
Let bulls attack other bullfighters by their great handling of mantle.
Bumping, bumping and bumping...!
Who keeps standing at the very end is a true "Matadoon Maestro"!
Any animal welfare organizations never matter, right?


> Overview & How to win:
Bump the ferocious bull against the other bullfighters with handling mantle well.
Bullfighters who lost should leave, and who wins at last can be a true Bullfighter called "Matadoon Maestro".


> Preparation:
Put all of the 35 mantle chips in the "pouch" and distribute "spectator stand" to each player to hide their own chips. The color of the "spectator stand" represents the color each bullfighter piece.
Put the bull on bull piece indicated on the out rim of stadium board along with the the arrow.
"The players bumped into something most recently, " or become a " the player who was hit by a bull at the play just before" should be the start player. From him put each’s piece of bull on somewhere of the center 9 grid with white frame in clockwise order.
(You cannot put it on the grid occupied by other bullfighters).

Each player should pull 4 mantle chips from the pouch (peeping forbidden). Mantle chips should be put behind each’s spectator stand with care not to be seen in other players.


(I) Turn of each player
Start player starts first then each player follows him in a clockwise direction. When each's turn comes, select one of the mantle chip at hand in the back, and put it on the grid nothing placed on the stadium. After 3 turns (just one ticket left behind spectator stand) migrate to the turn of bull.


>How to use the "move" chip
- movement of the bullfighter
Only "move" chip has different way of using in the all of mantle chip.
When one use it, should expose it to all and move one’s piece of bullfighter to the not occupied grid up, down, left and right from current grid. But cannot go out of white frame.


One may not move bullfighter’s piece in case there are no grids to move or one’s own bullfighter is down. Used "move" chip should be removed from the game(returning it to the pouch is forbidden).
- Recovery from damage
Damaged Bullfighter (described later) can recover from damage and stand up (make a bullfighter piece stand), by holding out 2 "move" chips together in their turn.


(II) Turn of bull
Let the bull go straight.
Bull changes his orientation and movement in accordance with the instruction that has been written on the front side of mantle chip when there is a back-facing cloak chip on the course.


Mantle of the "R"
Bull changes the orientation to the "right" in the direction from intrusion direction.


Mantle of the "L"
Bull changes the orientation to the "left" in the direction from intrusion direction.


Mantle of the "jump"
Bull is to ignore the instructions of then stepped's mantle. (Mantle chips that have been ignored remains in place as back)


Mantle of "through"
Bull goes straight as it is.


Mantle that had an impact on the bull, to return to the pouch.
Even bull passes through the same grid twice in the same turn, mantle’s effect never extends to bull again.
Except, the effect remains to only chips ignored by "jump" chip after the bull has passed because the processing assuming that bull does not pass through the grids.
In case the bull invades that grid again, bull moves in accordance with the instructions of the mantle chip, then, the chip returns to the pouch.


If there is a bullfighter piece on the path of bull, all of bullfighters who are on the course will be damaged with bull’s knocking.
Bring down the damaged bullfighter piece on the spot. If the bullfighter piece already down is knocked again, it should be removed from the bullfighter, player of the bullfighter piece will be defeated.


Once hit the outer wall, the bull changes direction 180-degree on the spot.
If the bull has not yet hit the wall even once in the same turn, restarts going straight after the change of direction.
In case the bull has already hit the wall once, changes direction 180-degree there and stops.
※ If mantle chip remains in direction changed grid by the effect of the "jump" chips just before, was diverting, the bull doesn’t obey the instructions and mantle chip should be returned to the pouch immediately.


When the bull hits the wall twice and stops the movement, bull turn ends, and then move to the round exit.


(III) Round Exit
At the end of the round, do the processing below.
- Back all of the mantle chips remaining on the arena to pouch. except move chip.
- Replenish the mantle chips from the porch so that the mantle chips become 4.
- Start player moves to the player's left side.


> Duel rules
-Last two players should fight without moving an inch from the spot to show off their courage to the audience. Until the end of fight bullfighters cannot be moved.
After that, "move" chip cannot be used for recovery of the damage as well as when they are damaged.


All of these done, (I) each player’s turn again.
A series of steps (I) (I I) (I I I) is called “round”.
It should be repeated until last one bullfighter survives in the bullring.
In case bull hit by more than one player in the same turn and no bullfighter is left in the bullring will be a draw, will be re-game.


>Butadoon
As for the 3-position 4-position of the bullfighter who dropped earlier at the time of four people play, we have provided a small bullring of 4 × 4 grid.
Use the pig instead of bull, at the 4-position first, fight bet the name of the title of the resumption "Tobu-shi (Pigfighter).


>2 people play
When it starts as the two matchup, bull should be placed on the bull pictured grid labeled "VS" inside, without most the outside of the frame use, you fight in the arena of the narrow state round .
Fight without duel rule and use the "move" chips as usual.


> Q & A
Q: As mantles are too mess, so cannot foresee how bull moves ......
A: Move bull one by one and list the mantle chip until getting used to the movement of bull and the feature of mantle.


Q: What happens if bull steppes on another "jump" chip after stepping "jump" chip?
A: Because of effect of the "jump" chip previously advanced, next stepped one will be ignored.


Q: What happens if the bullfighter is just after the "jump" chip?
A: Bullfighter will be hit by a bull because what is skipped by the "jump" chip is chip only.


Q: What is the rule of "Butadoon" ?
A: Do not use the duel rules, it is a rule of two people fighting.


>Apology
As the 3D printer was wrecked, production we planned has become impossible, we should have changed the specifications. So "Bull piece" doesn’t look like the picture on package. And though resumed finals "Butadoon" are added there is no description thereof at all in the package. We apologize.


>Designer's notes
This game has been produced in about two years ago.
Though it became so-so, we could not reduce the development costs, also, find "something " to make it more interesting. So the development stopped once.


But after two years, looking back this game again, various new ideas emerged.
And we found the way of giving it at low cost and reasonable shape.
We could improve our skills in two years, something impossible became possible. Matadoon was revived. You doubt this is really interesting? Must play!


This is the first chip game of EIJIN lab.
Because we had no experience to produce this kind of game, it was very hard.
We could do something in it when we wanted to do in card game.
System not depend on the character can exceed age and language.
Arrange the chip is something unique fun not in the card game. So impressive for us.
